这期校友故事，我们请到了深圳校区Web全栈开发课程的毕业生 Sophia，她现在在 Set Sail Software担任软件工程师。从国际非营利组织到教育行业创业，从跨五大洲二十多国的领导力培训到带领初创团队快速发展，所有的这些探索和宝贵经历让 Sophia 塑造了一套自己的价值观，以至于在不同领域都可以找到自己的目标并且展现自己。在采访过程中我们被她的开放心态以及整合能力吸引了，她提到现在的工作让她有了更多的自由，可以不断学习和充电，但她也曾经历过工作的瓶颈期，那是什么带她重新找回了学习的充实感？我们一起来看看把！
Today, we invited Sophia, our Shenzhen Alumni from Full-time Web Development program. She is now a software engineer from a HK-based software company Set Sail. Starting off working for the non-profit global youth leadership organization AIESEC, she switched to Education industry and now Technology. The global experience those companies provided has shaped her outlook and work ethic. Open-minded and positive as she is now, she had hurdles to overcome as well. What exactly brought her back to track? Let's find out!
LW: 为什么参加Le Wagon?
Sophia: 当时自己的状态有点疲惫和焦虑，很渴望有新的输入，想为自己充电，就在那时候恰巧看到了 Le Wagon 将到深圳办第一期编程训练营的消息。虽然之前一行代码都没有写过，但隐约觉得编程会让自己未来的职业发展有更多空间和选择。而且我也有朋友参加过并反馈课程质量很高，就抱着试试看的态度参加了。很幸运的是，尝试之后发现自己很喜欢！
LW: What makes you join Le Wagon?
Sophia: I have a friend who went to Le Wagon before and his said good things about it, which gave me an good impression. What really made me to go is when you guys launched the Shenzhen program for the first time, I happened to be in a stage where I was not learning anything new from my job and needed an opportunity to recharge myself with new knowledge and learnings. Not sure where I wanted to go, I decided to give it a try at coding. Surprisingly, I liked it a lot.Sophia 也想过去巴厘岛的 Le Wagon 训练营：）这也是一个短期和长期的博弈。短期来讲肯定是继续待在原来的公司更稳定，但我未来还希望到不同的国家体验和工作，拥有编程能力再结合自己之前积累的管理经验，在国际上的竞争力会更强。而且，我真的非常喜欢科技行业的自由度。疫情后我在家办公已经一年多了，工作完全没有受到影响，反而觉得效率还提高了。工作时间和空间上的自由原来对我如此重要，这是我之前没有意识到的。
This was also choice between long term and short term career development. Short-term speaking, I could stay at the same company, where I was a founding member and a management staff, and develop myself along the way as a manager. But in the long term, technology is a more promising industry globally. Say if I want to go work outside of China, I would have more opportunities with a technical background. Right now I feel lucky to enjoy the freedom of space and schedule provided by the technology company I am working at. I have been working from home after Covid and it is not in anyway less effecient.Sophia was the global VP of AIESEC
LW：其实Le Wagon的课程节奏也很快。那在上Web De 之前是做什么的？这是全日制的课程，你当时有辞职吗？Sophia：我当时在休假，当时的工作整个状态就是很累，没有太多的输入。休假的过程中就想找点东西来学。我当时在一个教育公司工作，我是早期成员之一，算是成立人之一。主要为K12学校提供国际教育方向的素质方案。我们会为计划出国的学生组织活动、竞赛。我的工作像是event manager，会做很多活动的计划、运营、管理、推广，很多线下的与学校交流以及合作。我现在转型以后，自己的工作量会轻很多，因为很多事情线上就可以搞定，两个行业商业模式和运营模式都不一样。Sophia是那种越挫越勇型的选手，总是有不服输，一定要把它啃下来那种学习劲儿。
LW：刚开始参加训练营的时候有没有比较难的感觉？
Sophia：Le Wagon给我们创造了一个很好的学习氛围，整体上我觉得还是蛮顺利的。每天都有大量的新的东西要学，有点把我以前学生时代的那种学霸的状态给调动出来了，觉得好有意思，这么多挑战好爽！感觉比较困难的时候，是当想实现的功能和自己作为初学者的知识和能力储备有很大的距离的时候。比如当时做身份验证那个环节就花了不少精力，也试过代码写到凌晨两三点。很庆幸当时有导师们的耐心指导和帮助。另外就是团队的磨合，因为最后两周是需要团队设计产品并亲自开发出来，在短时间内要组建团队，对最终产品达成共识，分工合作，赶进度等都是挺挑战的。
LW: Did you experience any difficulty while learning a new skill at the boothcamp?Sophia: The learning culture at Le Wagon community is supportive and cooperative so overall the process was smooth. Everyday, there would be a lot of new learnings and challenges. I was intrigued by the coding process of problem solving. It was fascinating. Strongly motivated by those challenges, I worked hard and sometimes I would stay up late to complete a project. But of course, it was hard for me to see the gap between my coding ability as a beginner and the product I want to build. I remember that we were creating a login page in which the identity authentication was so hard for me. I had to ask our instructor many times for support make it work eventually. 
LW：那从Le Wagon毕业以后找到现在的工作过程顺利吗？
Sophia：在最后开发产品的那两周，认识了当时来指导我们的两位导师，他们在开发过程中给了我很多帮助。可能是我在训练营中的表现给他们留下了不错的印象，当我提出想去他们所在的公司Set Sail参观时他们欣喜地答应了，甚至还引荐我加入。在他们的强力推荐下，我顺利拿到了前端开发工程师的工作机会。通过 Le Wagon 强大的校友关系网获得了新工作，整个过程其实没有经历太多困难，觉得自己非常幸运。
LW: After graduated from our boothcamp, how long did it take to find the job you are currently doing now?Sophia: I was introduced to my current company during the project week of the program. During that week, we had two additional instructors who came to help and support our projects. They happily accepted my request to visit their company Set Sail. They strong recommended me and with their referal I got the offer to work for them as a front-end developer. I was lucky to have the alumni connections Le Wagon has provided. Sophia：我们为企业和机构提供 chatbot 智能回复解决方案。我们的人工智能回复平台可以处理广东话、普通话、英文等不同语种的对话，并对接到客户的 Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, WeChat官方帐号以及官网里，帮助他们大大提升客服、销售以及运营的效率。
LW: That is awesome, what does your current company do?
Sophia: Our company provides Chatbot solutions to our clients. A chatbot is a type of software that can automate conversations and interact with people through messaging platforms. Companies we worked with includes WeChat, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp. It greatly improves the operation effiency and decreases the cost of the company.
LW：你在Set Sail 的职位是什么？真正参加进入了这个行业这个公司之后，会有一些不一样的感受吗？
Sophia：我在Set Sail的工作一开始主要负责前端开发，后来也涉及后端。尤其是我们最近在开发一个配合我们智能回复服务的新产品，团队成员之间是按功能分工的，所以前端后端都做，全栈式开发。我这次的职业转型跨度很大，从教育行业到科技行业，从管理到技术，但在转型的过程中倒没有觉得太困难，一方面得感谢 Le Wagon 的训练营帮我打下不错的基础，并教会我如何在编程这个领域持续自学，另一方面感激 Set Sail 开发自由、包容互助的氛围，让我融入起来毫无困难。心态是我觉得最需要调整的地方，毕竟我在原来的公司和行业已经有一定积累，技术转型之后，感觉一切似乎又得从头再来，内心难免有压力和焦虑。但这都是自己的选择，清零是为了更好地出发，一旦选择了便义无反顾。而且我最近发现，我之前积累的沟通协调管理等软技能开始发挥作用了，积极主动地在团队沟通、产品协调等方面做一些自己的贡献。LW: What do you do for Set Sail? Can you tell us about how was your transition to this field?Sophia: I started off working as a Front-end Developer. Later on I also started to work on backend. So I am a hard-core full stack coder：） We just call it Software Engineer at our company. My transition was mostly regarding my age and the lable or assumption I had about myself. First of all, switching from a non-technical education and work background, I started this work from zero. Whether my experience in education and management would be a waste was put on a question mark. With all of that, I was the oldest in our team. The pressure was real. However, when I acutally started to work with my colleagues who were a bunch of supportive and open-minded people, the pressure was replaced by a strong motivation of learning new skills and improving. I would say those assumptions were not real.
LW：从非盈利国际组织到教育行业再到科技行业，其实你还做了蛮多尝试的。
Sophia：对，之前在我们埃塞的时候也去了5个大洲二十几个国家去做志愿者的项目领导力的培训，对我视野以及心态影响蛮大的。所以后来跨行业或者说从头再来，我都不会觉得说很难接受，可能整个心态上就比较开放接纳，愿意去尝试新的挑战。LW：对非科技行业转行全新的去进入这个行业吗的人，你有什么建议吗？Sophia：就是去尝试。你不去尝试是永远不会知道的。他在脑海里想象多少遍也好，你不去迈出第一步，就不会有后面所有的故事。所以我是真的很建议，如果稍稍对这方面有感兴趣或者有好奇的话，可以去参加一些workshop，去体验式学习，而不是仅仅停留在去了解各方面的资讯，去收集很多的信息，去问朋友，停留在想法上。只有你行动后你才会发现这个东西适不适合自己。我想象中的编程和我真正去体验之后，其实很不一样，一开始觉得他很难，根本不适合我，但是我真的去开始写代码之后，我才发现有很多共通点。因为它其实就是一个语言，如果说。如果你英语能学好，我觉得编程你就可以学好。真的有很多的共同点。我完全没有编程计算机基础，但语言我还是挺感兴趣的，我能找到共同点，而且我能够举一反三的去应用。Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/sophiafanxuefei/文中图片由 Sophia 提供
